 How it all started:
We started Upside Over because we found it very hard to find great functional outdoor gear for kids that was built to our standards and not built like a toy. We believe that having kids, going outdoors and doing the things you love go hand in hand. Upside Over was started with a great passion in mind, to include our kids in our active outdoor lifestyle by finding the right outdoor gear.
What is in a name?
Upside Over, what the heck does that mean? Well, our daughter named the company in a round about way. When she was 2 years old, her words for upside down were upside over. It is also what we sometimes feel as parents. This is especially true when we are new parents trying to stay active with our kids doing the things we love to do. In our case it was a host of outdoor sports. Our biggest fear as parents was that our active outdoor lifestyle would end with the arrival of our first child. Boy, were we ever wrong! We knew that if we could find the right outdoor gear for our kids, our dreams could be a reality. So our company is named Upside Over to represent the feelings we have as parents at many times in our lives, and our desire to enjoy and share outdoor experiences with our kids.
What we are all about:
Upside Over is a company run by parents with kids and parents in mind. Our goal is to source the best outdoor gear and information for active families looking to participate in active outdoor adventures. We understand some simple principles that make or break a good day out with kids:
- Kids need to feel safe and comfortable.
- We as parents need to feel confident about the safety and security of our children.
- Kids need to be involved and have fun!
With this in mind our team of Upside Over kids and families gear up and test all kinds of outdoor products and equipment. We check everything out so you can feel comfortable with your gear choices for your children. Rest assured that it is not just a manufacturer’s idea of what will work, but a parent and kid’s idea as well.

We are laser focused on assembling a team of outdoor consultants, many times parents like yourself, to advise you in selecting the right gear for your activities. Believe us when I say they have been through the same thing, and of course they are gear and clothing experts. |
| EQUIP |
Finally, providing you with high quality gear from well known manufacturers is key to our success. Our team selects the best products from each manufacturer to fulfill the needs of equipping your children. We focus on kids gear and clothing ages 0-12 and continue to build our collection of products as manufacturers understand more of what it takes to bring young children into the outdoors. Your feedback and our work has a direct impact on what manufacturers produce. |
Our Retail Store
Although a signficant portion of our customers come to us through our web based store, many decide to pay us a visit as they make there way through the upstate New York corridor into the heart of the Adirondacks. We encourage you to stop by when making your way through. We are nestled in the beautiful and historic town of Saratoga Springs, south of Lake Placid and Saranac Lake.
