Its not all the time that Upside over staff have the opportunity to test out all the gear we carry. However, to us this is one of the most important things to understanding if the gear we provide truly does meet the needs of our parents and children. It is our intention to keep your children safe, warm and happy for every outing. It is for this reason that we created the Upside Over family gear tester program!!
What is the Upside Over Family Gear tester program?
The family gear tester program allows our customers to recieve select gear at a fraction of the cost they would normally pay. What could be better!! A huge discount towards your purchase of the gear you are going to test and review.
Is the gear testing program free?
The gear testing program is not completely free, but does provide a significant discount towards your purchase of the "to be tested" gear, from 15% to 40% off depending on the gear.
What are the requirements of being a gear tester?
All we ask is that you provide us with a written review of the gear or clothing that you have tested within a defined format. We ask that you follow a specific format so that all gear reviews look similar for our readers. In addition we also request that you take a picture of your testing activity and send it along. Our customers love to see the testing in action!! We encourage you to use the gear as many times as possible before writing the review. We often are looking for information on durability as so many families pass gear down from one child to the next.

Where do the reviews get posted?
Your review will be posted on our website, under the specific product you tested, as well as at our partner resource sites.
How do I submit my family gear testing review?
You can submit your review to us via email along with your images from your gear testing event. Once you are set up as a gear tester we will send you an email with all of the appropriate information for participating.
Are there guidelines for the written review?
Our advice is to keep it short, descriptive and to the point. We enjoy first person narratives directly from child gear testers as well, when applicable, so include those in quotation marks if you would like!
Is there a form I can fill out for my review?
Yes, you can pull the form down from here for your gear reviews. We will also send you one once you have been accepted into the program.

Do I have to reapply everytime I want to test something?
If you are selected to be a gear testing family, you are always a gear testing family, or at least as long as you would like to participate! Many times we have suggestions for new gear we need tested, but most of the time we allow you to choose an item you are interested in adding to your collection.
When do I make my gear or clothing purchase for gear testing and reviews?
Before placing any gear testing order, please call or email ahead of time to discuss your purchase and the appropriate discount.
When do I get my discount?
When you have tested your gear and completed the Upside Over Gear Review Form, we will credit your account with the agreed upon discount and post your family’s results on-line.
How do I become an Upside Over gear tester?
Fill out the form below to request to become a gear tester. Tell us a little about your self, your favorite activities and the gear you owuld be interested in reviewing. One of our outdoor consultants will get back to you to discuss your participation in the program.
